School of the Spirit - Week Three

After an interesting week, the least I can say is things are heating up. During the week, I felt the Holy Spirit say that we needed to go deeper into the river, as written in Ezekiel 47. In addition, Ann-Marie later in the week felt there was going to be an attack. I believe this was in direct response  to the Holy Spirit wanting us to go deeper. After communion and prayer we took time to wait on the Lord for Therese, one of the ladies in attendance, and bring what I believe was great wisdom and knowledge from the Holy Spirit, remembering that 1John 2:20-23 says we can know all things by the Holy Spirit. He who knows all things is also able to reveal things to us to bring us all into this deeper relationship with Him.

Throughout the week I kept getting revelation of John 3 where Nicodemus comes to Jesus. As you know, Jesus speaks to Nicodemus that we must “be born again.…born again of water and Spirit”. Whilst many scholars are in disagreement about this meaning, I feel the meaning is rather simple. God wants us to be born again by His Spirit, this speaks both of the regenerative and baptism of God's Spirit but also by the water of God's word. First we make this decision to follow Christ to the cross by the revelation of His word and then we have an ongoing relationship through the Spirit.

Scripture tells us the Spirit is life, as apposed to the letter which is death. Being born again is not just about a decision we make at conversion but how we interact with God's Spirit on a daily or even momentary basis.

Needless to say, the third week of our school was an interesting one. John Rees started us off by looking at scripture relating to the Trinity and God the Holy Spirit. He also shared with us about something I know very little, that is journaling in the Spirit. Put simply, you wait on the Holy Spirit to speak to you, either about yourself or a particular need you know someone else may have and you write down what He reveals. Journaling is in a way what I do in these blogs, as the Holy Spirit downloads something new, I simply write about it. We spoke how these things should be anchored or based in the word and therefore tested in this way. The Holy Spirit will always point to the Father and the Son, meaning that anything He  says will align with God's word and scripture.

This coming week, we are looking at scripture relating to the Holy Spirit's work throughout time. Whilst I do have the notes for this subject they are in Swedish and will need to be written in English before posting them.

Have a blessed week!
James
